Feeling’s On Band Uniform

Story by Kayleigh Keller and Jasmine Blair

When Covid-19 started, the class of 2024 became freshmen. When they started freshman year, they were presented with options of which classes to enroll in. Some enrolled in art, but these particular freshmen enrolled in band. Freshman year wasn’t the best time from masks to no events.

How has performing this year been since you did not do it last year?

Hoover – “I wasn’t in band last year but from what I hear it’s going to be way better last year was icky.”

Hernandez-Rojo – “It’s more memorable than last year.”

Jonathan – “It feels nice. I’m glad we can bring it back freshman year was little stale and got boring sometimes.”

How do you think the uniform will change the way the performance will look?

Hoover – “It will look a lot better rather than the shirt and jeans.”

Hernandez-Rojo – “It will look a lot crisper and won’t see our mistakes as much.”

Jonathan – “It will look a lot nicer and well be able to look more professional.”

Are you excited to wear the uniforms?

Hoover – “No.”

Hernandez-Rojo – “Yes but maybe a little stiff, especially because it will be bulkier because we wear them over our clothes.”

Jonathan – “Yes, I love the way it looks especially around my shoulders, they make them look so good.”

How do you think marching in the uniform will be?

Hoover – “A lot stiffer and a lot of getting used to.”

Hernandez-Rojo – “Not too different. T-shirts and pants but may take some time to get used to0 the top and pants of the uniform.”

Jonathan – “I say marching won’t be too complicated or to different, I’ve worn the uniform before so it won’t be too complicated.”

Are you excited to wear the uniform for the first time?

Galindo – “Yes I’m excited because it is my first marching band experience.”

Sharbutt – “I am, I’ve never been in that kind of uniform before but it may be a little hot.”

How do you think the uniform will change the way the performance will look?

Galindo – “It’s going to be more of an experience and make everything look much cooler.”

Sharbutt – “More formal than t-shirt and pants.”

How do you think marching in the uniform will be?

Galindo – “Difficult because they are a little uncomfortable.”

Sharbutt – “Some slightly stiff movement compared to without it.”
