“This is my seventh year teaching at PHS. I currently teach Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus.  Each class has its own appeal, and I truly enjoy teaching each of them. I especially enjoy the lessons where students are interacting with math and are able to see connections with the “real world.”  For example in Geometry, students are able to calculate the height of the flagpole in front of the school by measuring a horizontal distance and an angle of elevation. I enjoy seeing students making the flagpole height lesson, it is fun because first of all, we get to go outside.  Second, the students work together to take some measurements.  There are great conversations about how to measure, and how slight differences in measurement techniques can result in great differences in the final calculations.”
