Live Again: Vocal Music Department goes live

Story by Josh Ozbun, Reporter

For the first time since December of 2019, the PHS Vocal Music Department will have a live performance. This performance will take place in the PHS Gymnasium on Wednesday, April 28 at 6:30 pm.

All participants will be on the home side of the gym and at 50% capacity, which is around 420 people. For those who cannot attend, the concert will be livestreamed.

“It’s very exciting,” Vocal Music Director Susan Laushman said. “Because that’s always our goal in music programs to show what we have been working on, and do it in front of a live audience.”

According to Laushman, there will be 65 performers, freshman through seniors.

Senior Annabella Beachner loves the environment of a live audience.

“It always feels wonderful to get to perform in front of a live audience. It’s the electricity that they give you as you sing- that’s the best feeling,“ Beachner said.

Beachner’s favorite song that she will be singing in is “What A Wonderful World.”
“My favorite song is “I Love You/What a Wonderful World.” It really has a beautiful, rainbow effect on me when I sing about how beautiful the world is around me,” Beachner said. “I live in such a wonderful world where I have the privilege to sing.”
