“I have been teaching at PHS for 3 years now, I teach English 9, Creative Writing, and Applied English/Communications  I love teaching all three of [the classes], but I would have to say Creative Writing is my favorite (to be honest). In Creative Writing, we do all sorts of fun writing activities. It is my favorite because I get to see students come out of their shell and write about things they wouldn’t normally write about. The creativity that flows out of our students is just amazing. We read numerous stories/books throughout the curriculum in my three classes. The one I find most interesting is a book we talk about and look at in Creative Writing called The Book of Awesome. This is a book filled with literal situations of awesomeness. It is written in a journal-like form. The submissions for these entries come from all different types of people that are sent to the author. We base a short unit on this book where we have the students write their own entries of things/situations that they have found to be awesome and we make our own classroom “Book of Awesome”. It’s really fun!”
